Ascension Counseling Center is a parish agency that provides outpatient and mental health and substance abuse treatment to Ascension residents.  Offices are located in Gonzales and Donaldsonville.  The professional staff includes psychiatrists, master's level mental health counselors, substance abuse counselors, and a nurse.

To provide comprehensive therapeutic services to individuals and families in an effort to foster healthy coping skills that will improve their quality of life.

Individuals and/or families are evaluated by a mental health counselor to identify emotional and behavioral concerns.  Treatment may include individual and family counseling with psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring as needed.

Clients complete a comprehensive evaluation with a substance abuse counselor to identify underlying concerns that contribute to addictive behavior.  Treatment identifies changes in behaviors, attitudes, and life styles necessary for recovery.  Substance abuse treatment is conducted in a therapeutic environment.

Fees are assessed according to family income based on a sliding scale that begins at $2.  The agency is funded by a parish property tax and accepts Medicaid, insurance, and individual payment.
