About Marvin Braud Pump Station

  • Originally the station construction started in 1988 and was completed in 1991 and it consisted of 5 1000 CFS Caterpillar Diesel engine drive pumps
  • In 2013 a 6th Pump was added with an additional bay constructed for a 7th pump
  • In 2017 the 7th pump was completed and was put into use
  • 7 -1,000 CFS (448,800 GPM) Caterpillar Diesel engine drive pumps
  • 7000 CFS = 448,800 GPM X 7 = 3,141,600 GPM Discharge rate
  • 3 -15,000 gallon Diesel Fuel Tanks
  • 1 engine will burn 68 gallons of fuel/hour = $150.00/hour/engine X 7 = $1,050.00/hour X 12 = $12,600.00 of fuel /12 hour shift
  • Serves a majority of the parish in flood control (St.Amant, Gonzales, Sorrento, Southern Prairieville, Geismer, Southern Dutchtown)
  • Staffing is a crew of 1- Supervisor, 1- Pump Tenant, 2- Operators, and 1- Millwright/Mechanic  1 day shift and 1 night shift
