Boucherie and Balloon Festival

A boucherie is a gathering where allthings pig are cooked, which is exactlywhat you can expect to find at theBoucherie and Balloon Festival. Wehost cracklin and jambalaya cookingcompetitions all weekend, wherefestival attendees can watch as thecooks work their magic and then try itat the food tent after it’s been judged. There’s also a cochon de lait, or a pigroast, that is cooked and served overan open fire each day of the festival.This is a long-standing BoucherieFestival tradition you don’t want tomiss.The Boucherie Festival Association(BFA) works the food tent where theysell the competition food, but alsoother pork items like hog headcheese, pulled pork sandwiches andboudin links. You can also findfestival t-shirts, lapel pins, and theannual poster at the BFA tent.Other food options are available andvary annually. You will find craft andfood vendors lining the entry to thefestival, as well as local sponsors, soplease consider supporting thesehard-working individuals on your wayin and out of the festival.Another thing you will see uponarrival to the festival are the hot airballoons! The balloon glows in theevenings are an event you don’t wantto miss, and doing a tethered hot airballoon ride is a bucket list item youcan check off right here in Sorrento.Our roots are here in South Louisiana,so it’s only right to host localmusicians who’s music ranges fromswamp pop to country. While festival admission is free, theBoucherie and Balloon festival is theprimary fundraiser for the SorrentoLions Club, so donations are alwaysaccepted at the entry and the BFAtent.
