Grants Overview
Our Mission
The Grants Department is committed to enhancing Ascension Parish by advocating for, seeking out, developing, securing, and managing grant funding for a wide range of parish projects. This funding supports initiatives that improve the quality of life for residents and promote community development.
Some of the Grants Administered Include:
- Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Elevation – This program is a pre-disaster competitive program funded by FEMA through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Funds are used for projects that reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to buildings and structures insured by the NFIP.
- Recipients are required to have an NFIP Flood Insurance Policy.
- Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) – This is a post-disaster program funded through FEMA. Funding is made available, when authorized, for hazard mitigation planning and projects. HMGP funding is awarded only after a presidentially declared disaster.
