The objective of the Ascension Parish Health Unit is to provide health care services and to promote the well being of the general public within the Parish of Ascension.
Ascension Parish Health Unit partners with Albertsons to Give Free Vaccines
The Ascension Parish Health Unit and Albertson’s have partnered to give ages five and older free vaccines in Ascension. The Pop-up vaccination clinic will take place at the Gonzales Health Unit on Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers ask that those planning to attend have the following:
-Prescription insurance card/Medicaid/etc. if available
-Insurance is not mandatory
-Parents of children should have their I.D. and drivers license
On Saturday, Feb 12th, 21 days after the first dose, a second dose will be scheduled. On-site consent forms will be provided Here.

Providing WIC services for low to moderate income families. WIC services consist of good nutrition for infants and children up to 5 years of age, pregnant women, post-partal women and breastfeeding mothers. Call to see if you qualify for an appointment.
$10.00 per visit Monday, Tuesday & Thursday 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Provide yearly exams by appointment only for birth control which includes pap smears, breast exams and STD testing. We also offer depo shots at minimum cost.
SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES
Testing by appointment only for Syphilis, Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and HIV Treatment for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia offered at a minimum cost.
Take applications to supply groceries provided by Louisiana Food Bank to low income families on a quarterly basis, the 3rd Wednesday of each quarter from 8:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales. The Ascension Parish Health Unit assists Food for Families in providing a contact number of 1-800-522-3333.
